Fantasy Football: Top 5 WRs

1. Andre Johnson - Arguably the best receiver in the league and Schaub will always be looking his way. He's huge (6'3"/228), talented and plays for a team that passed for a league-high 300 yards per game last year. In Houston's offense, he has become practically unstoppable going back to back seasons over 1,500 yards. Look for him to top 100 receptions and at least 1,400 yards this season. Schaub has some more experience under his belt and so does the receiving core, all adding to Johnson's fantasy value. His only flaw might be an aggravating knee issue, but nothing serious. Doesn't get much better than your boy Andre.

2. Randy Moss - At 33, Moss is still doing damage, but he's not what he used to be. He still will be among the elite receivers this season and probably will lead the league in TD catches. At 6-foot-4, he's difficult to guard on high throws and he is used extensively around the goal line for that exact reason. Three years in a row Moss has caught over 45 percent of the Patriot's TD passes. It is safe to say that Moss could accumulate around 14 TDs this season and certainly is Brady's most familiar target. Look for him to catch even more balls than last year especially if Welker isn't 100 percent.

3. Reggie Wayne - Some may worry that new up and coming receivers like Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie along with Dallas Clark may hurt Wayne's fantasy value, think again. Reggie Wayne has six consecutive seasons of going over 1,000 yards and you can bet that he will do it again this year. The chemistry and rapport he has built with Manning is hard to come by. With the Colts struggling to run the ball, less double team on Wayne due to better teammates and the best quarterback throwing him the ball, Reggie's numbers soar. Not to mention he lost the Super Bowl last year and he is playing for a new contract. Take Peyton Manning's top receiver, he won't disappoint.

4. Brandon Marshall - Marshall has averaged 102 receptions and 1,237 receiving yards the last three seasons and is in position to have another big year with the Dolphins. A run first team going off their last few seasons, the Dolphins look to become a little more balanced this year. Brandon put up stats regardless of who threw him the ball in the past, but he seems to like his quarterback now better than any of them. During an interview he was quoted saying "Chad Henne throws a more catch-able ball". Marshall looks like a guaranteed 90 receptions and 7TDs, but you better believe he will be looking for more than that.

5. Calvin Johnson - Being the largest starting receiver at 6'5"/236lbs, Johnson is definitely one of the best receivers in the league. He proved that two years ago, when he caught 78 passes for 1,331 yards and 12 TDs on a team that went 0-16. Now for the first time in his NFL career the Lions are starting to look like a respectable team, on offense anyway. Stafford is still developing, but looks like he is ready to have a breakout season and with the addition of Nate Burleson (#2 WR), Javhid Best and Tony Scheffler in the mix things look promising for Calvin. Last season was a fluke, expect Johnson to put up the numbers he did in 2008.

  1. It was hard not to include Fitz just tough to throw him in that bunch with his limited supporting cast in Arizona. Questionable quarterbacks and no more Boldin to take some of the heat. Plus Arizona will be looking to establish more of a ground game this season.

  2. I know these are just projections but just so you know Larry averages about 6.5 reps 120 yards and a touch when boldin didn't play. So I'm going to have to debunk that myth.I don't know how the hands down best reciever on the planet 2 years ago can not be top 5 when his skills haven't diminished. And Randy being number 2 is wishful thinking

  3. I'm assuming those stats were with Warner. There's a big difference between an experienced QB compared to Leinart and Anderson. Fitz is a top caliber receiver and could most likely put up more points than CJ, BMarshall and Moss, but personally I will take my chances with these guys instead of an uncertain QB situation and diminshed Cardinals offense.
