Fantasy Forum : Week 4

Fantasy Forum:Week 4

Happy Saturday guys, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend thus far and that hangover from last night is quickly subsiding as you post up watching college football. There is always a lot of parody in the NFL, the "Super Bowl" bound Cowboys and Vikings stumbled out of the starting blocks, the Kansas City Chiefs are 3-0, yes 3-0 with some quality wins, The Steelers are at best were supposed to be 2-2 when Big Ben returned, but apparently they didn't get that memo. The Steelers defense is so good it doesn't matter who is playing signal caller for them to win games. The Saints are 3-0 2-1(Thanks Garrett Hartley) but don't look like the Saints from last year. I read an interesting article about how teams aren't blitzing Brees as much and staying away about from the nickel packages, all coverages and schemes Brees torched last year. So many its going to take some time for him and Sean Peyton to come up with something else on offense, I wouldn't be worried because those two are some of the best in the business. With that being said we know this has affected some fantasy performances. Trust me I am still waiting for Marques Colston to have a relevant game. On the other hand some guys have just flat out out performed our expectations. We really don't know what to expect from Michael Vick just yet, it could be a time to maybe sell high, and from the looks of it Austin Collie is going to finish the season at a ridiculous 120/1500/16 clip but we know better. Week four is important because you really get a better grip on your team, the guys that have been somewhat consistent through the first 4 to 5 weeks usually pan out to be good players. This is also the time you find the smoke and mirror guys, maybe the guys who performed well only because a certain circumstance.

Don't get me wrong I love Chad Johnson (I refuse to call him Ochocinco) as much as the next guy but did you really think Chad was on pace to grab 12 catches for 160 yards and a touch week in and week out, of course not but what is even more telling is that we have noticed is that Carson Palmer is not that good. Carson should have about 13 interceptions at this point, and trust me I counted. Since that game against a horrendous and young New England secondary, Chad has caught and average of 4 receptions for 37 yards and zero touchdowns. Its not what we would expect from Chad but a lot has to do with the quarterback situation. The same goes for Larry Fitzgerald even though it pains me to say it. He is a top tier wide-out but with Derek Anderson calling the shots, Larry stock has definitely dropped. Steve Smith is in a similar situation in Carolina, bad team, rookie quarterback, and faltering running game. Might be a good time to trade these guys for some value if it is there, no rush but test the waters since they are big names and someone might give you some good value in positions you need.

Starting Line ups are due in the 24 hours. You guys know the drill, who should sit, who should start etc, and even throw us some trade proposals we might be able to help you with. Good luck this weekend.

  2. Austin Collie is "ready to roll" according to my sources. He participated fully in practice on Friday, which is a good sign and I definitely think he'll be on the field come Sunday. Pierre Garcon however will most likely not play adding to Collie's value.
