(Photo Courtesy of Sportsgeeks.com)Fact! Matty Ice is Nice. Matt Ryan and Santonio Holmes are competing for best closer in the NFL right now (Advantage Ryan). A huge victory over GB has the Falcons in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the NFC.
2. New England Patriots (9-2)
Do I need to say anything other than Monday Night Football 9-2 New England vs. 9-2 New York? Saddest part is the loser of this game will probably be playing a road playoff game as a Wild Card team.
3. New York Jets (9-2)
See above^
4. Baltimore Ravens (8-3)
The division title could be on the line this week with arch-rival Pittsburgh coming to town.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3)
Pittsburgh is a Stevie Johnson (and God) drop away from being 7-4. Headed to Baltimore this weekend. Watch the final score of this game be something like 42-35 ha
6. Philadelphia Eagles (7-4)
It’s official, Mike Vick is human. It’s also still a fact that Mike Vick is the most dangerous player in the league. The loss to Chicago proved what I have been saying all year, Philly’s defense is SUSPECT.
7. New Orleans Saints (8-3)
The SI Sportsman of the year has his team playing great at the right time. 2 gimme’s in the next two weeks (Cin & STL), are followed by a murders row stretch in the final 3 weeks (@Bal, @ATL, vs. TB.) Week 17 may be where Breesus saves the city of New Orleans again.
8. Green Bay Packers (7-4)
Last second wins are Matt Ryan’s forte, so I won’t hold that loss against GB. In my opinion the best team in the NFC North, but need to go at least 3-2 in their final 5 games to secure a playoff spot.
9. Chicago Bears (8-3)
Final 5 games are @Det, vs. NE, @Min, vs. NYJ, @ GB. They could easily be 8-8 at season end.
10. Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)
Kansas City may have won their most important game on Sunday in Seattle. Getting a 2nd road win has put them in the driver seat of the AFC West. With 3 home games left (CLE, TEN, OAK), 10 wins may be enough to win the division.
11. New York Giants (7-4)
The Giants are an anomaly. Their Defense in incredible, but their Offense finds ways to lose games. If the Giants can string together a few wins and get healthy, they are dangerous.
12. San Diego Chargers (6-5)
I’m just going to say it; it’s put up or shut up time with the Chargers. Every year it’s the same thing, come out the first 6 weeks flat, and then turn it on the last 10. Only problem for SD is that KC may have their number this year. I think that if the Chargers don’t at least get to the Super Bowl, Norv Turner and AJ Smith need to be fired. Being a divisional round playoff team isn’t good enough in the NFL.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-4)
If Raheem Morris doesn’t have the NFL Coach of the year already locked up, he is about 1 win away from it. It’s going to be a tragedy if this team finishes with 10 wins and gets left out of the playoffs because a 7-9 NFC West team makes it. Mr. Goddell, do us all a favor and make up your 648 in-season rule and stop a team with a record under .500 from making the playoffs.
14. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5)
Are they more talented than Indianapolis? Probably not. But, they are in first place and control their own destiny. MJD is playing like a mad man, and David Garrard is one of the more underrated play makers in the NFL.
15. Indianapolis Colts (6-5)
It’s official, Peyton Manning needs some help. The man that introduced you to Blair White, Pierre Garcon, and Jacob Tamme, has finally reached the point in his career where he can’t do it alone. A 36-14 beat down by the Chargers, has this team in jeopardy of not making the playoffs.
16. Miami Dolphins (6-5)
One week Miami looks like they could lose to the U, and the next week they look like the team that won the division 2 years ago. More likely than not, they will need to win a minimum of 4 of their last 5 to be in playoff consideration. Those final 5 include trips to New York and New England. Can someone find Dan Marino some shape ups?
17. Houston Texans (5-6)
Houston absolutely dominated Tennessee, and then Andre Johnson went all Clubber Lange on Cortland Finnegan. Houston D has been miserable and week 13 brings a guy by the name of MIKE VICK.
18. St. Louis Rams (5-6)
For the sanity of NFL fans everywhere, St. Louis needs to win every home game left on their schedule, so a team ends up .500 from the NFC Worst. I hate to break it to Lebron James and Cowboys fans everywhere, but Sam Bradford pretty much has the Offensive Rookie of the Year locked up.
19. Tennessee Titans (5-6)
Rusty Smith as your starting QB and you give Chris Johnson 7 carries?? Maybe Bud Adams shouldn’t be looking to get rid of Vince Young, rather Jeff Fisher.
20. Washington Redskins (5-6)
Have the “Die Daniel Die” chants started in Washington, or are they reserved for weeks 15-17. At least Redskins fans can take solace in the fact that Donovan McNabb is their QB for the next 5 years……..
21. Oakland Raiders (5-6)
Question of the week, how many times will the Raiders change who their starting QB is before Sunday? I hear Jamarcus Russell is looking for employment.
22. Cleveland Browns (4-7)
The best 4-7 team I maybe ever. Maybe Colt McCoy is an NFL QB after all.
23. Seattle Seahawks (5-6)
Has the 12th man officially been removed from the stadium? Week 17 vs. St. Louis will most likely decide the division champion. PLEASE BOTH BE ATLEAST 7-8 AT THE TIME!
24. San Francisco 49ers (4-7)
Troy Smith is doing his best to save Mike Singletary’s job. Now sorry 9ers fans, but bragging about beating the Cardinals is as cool as, well bragging about beating the Cardinals. 1 game back of the lead in the NFC Worst, the 49ers still are the most talented team in the division.
25. Minnesota Vikings (4-7)
Interim Coach Theory. Who knows what potential this team has for remainder of the year; the theory has a mind of its own. The only thing that may hold them back from running of 5 straight is the dreaded high ankle sprain for AP.
26. Dallas Cowboys (3-8)
Through the first 3 weeks of the Jason Garrett era, we have learned that he was obviously hiding the real playbook while Wade Phillips was the coach, and decided to bust it out when he got a promotion. If Roy Williams wasn’t such loser, Jason Garrett would be 3-0 and the Cowboys would be sitting in decent shape for a .500 season.
27. Buffalo Bills (2-9)
2 things were established after the Bills almost won @Pittsburgh. 1. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a legitimate NFL QB. 2. Stevie Johnson is not all there. I wouldn’t bet on the Bills for the rest of the year, with Steve Johnson offending God and all.
28. Detroit Lions (2-9)
Being “The Best 2 and _” team in the league can only hold you over for so long. The fact is, Detroit is 2-9, but at least they’re not Arizona. In all reality, if they were healthy, and Alphonso Smith learned how to play football, they may have 4-6 wins. At least they have the Defensive Rookie of the Year in Ndamukong Suh.
29. Denver Broncos (3-8)
Something Josh McDaniels learned from his mentor Bill Belichick, how to videotape opponents. Something he did not learn from “The Hoodie”, how to win football games. It’s ok Broncos’ fans, your owner gave McDaniels a vote of confidence for 2011. Pause!
30. Cincinnati Bengals (2-9)
Great in Madden. Terrible in real life. I think Chad Ochocinco and Bengals fans are praying for the next 5 weeks to fly by so that the Carson Palmer era in Cincinnati can come to an end. It goes without saying Marvin Lewis is gone as well.
31. Arizona Cardinals (3-8)
THIS TEAM BEAT THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS. One of the more pathetic MNF showings and a Derek Anderson post game blow up has the Cardinals in my “Worst Team Not Named The Panthers” slot. I don’t think that Derek Anderson would be in the top 5 of the USFL MVP voting. Ok AZ let’s get the chant going in unison “WE NEED LUCK. WE NEED LUCK. WE NEED LUCK.”
33. Carolina Panthers (1-9)
The Panthers actually showed some life against Cleveland, but at the end of the day all that happened was the loss total went from 8 to 9. I feel like if Carolina was paying attention, they would realize that the “Interim Coach Theory” is real, and if they want that 2nd win it might be time for Jon Fox to go.
