Whats the Deal Behind PowerBalance?

I'm sure we have all noticed these wristbands floating around at some point in the past six months, either at the gym, someone at work, on campus, or most notable athletes wearing them during games. If you don't already know, this is PowerBalance. A scientific band that is supposed to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. I mean what more could you want if your an athlete performing at the highest level, it would seem like a must have.

Now before people bang on the actual functioning of the product, let me just say that I personally own one and I love it. I feel more endurance, flexibility, and seem to recover quicker from workouts. Now sure you could make the argument that my brain is telling me this band has power so my body preforms better, like a placebo effect, but isn't that the point? Regardless of the science behind it, it seems to fare well with the elite of sports.

If you must have the technical term here is what the team at PowerBalance is saying about their product. "Power Balance is Performance Technology designed to work with your body’s natural energy field. Founded by athletes, Power Balance is a favorite among elite athletes for whom balance, strength and flexibility are important." also that the hologram embedded into the wristband syncs up to produce this balance, strength and flexibility at higher levels then when then band is not in contact with the body.

Hundreds of athletes in various sports are using Power Balance and the company is proud, stressing the athletes wouldn’t be wearing the product unless they firmly believed in its benefits. There are numerous testimonials from professional athletes on the Power Balance site and you can check out their balance tests on YouTube. PowerBalance has definitely made its point with athletes such as Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Brandon Jennings, Shaq, Lamar Odom, Jared Dudley, Scott Kazmir, Teemu Selanne, Matt Stafford, Trevor Ariza, Bruce Irons, and Steve Nash all endorsing their product.

Lamar Odom, one of Powerbalance biggest ambassadors says "“I definitely feel a difference on the court when I wear the wristbands,” he said, via email to Slam Magazine. “It gives me more energy and balance when I’m on the court.” and in the same interview Trevor Ariza came on to say ""Knowing that I have to be at my best every day, I am constantly looking for ways to stay on top of my game with endurance and strength. Power Balance provides me with the ability to do just that. This product has offered me noticeable increases in my endurance while playing and working out as well as giving me an extra boost of power in my take off."

Honestly, you're just going to have to try it out to believe the hype, but can this many top tier athletes be wrong? If your still feeling skeptical here is a video that might answer some of your questions about this so called "miracle" band.
